Move Management

Seminars.

Our seminars cover the major steps involved in downsizing a household and we encourage our seminar participants to ask questions and share their ideas and thoughts.

Here are a few of the topics discussed:

  • The desire and willingness to simplify life. Even if you're not ready to make a move decision, the pre-move preparation time and tasks can be critical to a successful transition. Having the desire to begin the process is most important.

  • The pros and cons of downsizing--there are both and we discuss them.

  • Finding the ideal new home/living environment. As you transition to a smaller living environment, what's important to you? Starting a list now can be beneficial.

  • The importance of space planning. Avoiding a cramped or cluttered environment.

  • Allowing adequate transition time. Setting realistic and attainable goals and following through with them. Keeping track of progress/measuring the milestones.

  • Tackling the accumulation and excess of life--sorting and paring down. The room-by-room approach to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

  • The emotional side of moving from a longtime, memory-rich home. It's real and it is extremely difficult for many. The importance of preparing yourself mentally and emotionally for the move and being open and honest about your feelings with those close to you.

  • Move management. Packing and unpacking.

  • Preparing your home for the real estate market. This task may happen prior to or following the move. Knowing the things that can sell your home quicker.

  • Selecting a Realtor®.

  • Having an estate/moving sale--following the move. Allowing enough time in the schedule for a successful sale.

  • EMBRACING YOUR NEW LIFESTYLE! In our years in business, not once have we had a client say, "Why did I do this?". Instead we hear, "Why didn't I do this sooner?". The right attitude and motives make for a successful downsizing move.
