Which one is right for you?
Making the decision to downsize to a senior living community can be quick or evolve over time. There are many different life scenarios that can come into play, each bringing its own important considerations. From independent living to needs-based options such as assisted living or memory care, each can serve the senior in different ways.
When considering a move, it's important to assess your needs as they are today as well as the future. Of course, no one has a crystal ball, but being objective and keeping a healthy perspective and outlook on life can play a major role in where you choose to live.
It's important to begin your search understanding the different types of senior living communities available and what they offer the resident--Independent Living (IL), Assisted Living (AL), and Memory Care (MC).
Senior Living Communities in the Greater Kansas City Metro
We've compiled a comprehensive listing of all 120+ brick-and-mortar communities in the Kansas City area. The community listings, appearing in the left-hand column of this page, are organized by state, region, and city. Under each city, the communities are listed alphabetically with their designation next to their name--IL, AL, and MC.
Communities that are underlined are part of our new Front Door Program and provide a direct link from their listing to their homepage. A quick and easy way for our senior customers and their families to visit the community from our site.

Independent Living Communities (IL)
These communities offer maintenance-free living and are the perfect fit for active seniors who are capable of living independently and want the conveniences offered through community living.
Independent living communities will vary in
their resident offerings. Here are a few
services and amenities offered by some
communities:

Participation in the community's social activities and programs is optional for each resident, but having a wide array of options to choose from makes for living in an independent living community a potentially fun adventure!
Assisted Living Communities (AL)
Assisted living is ideal for seniors with the desire and capacity to live in private, individual apartments, while still receiving hands-on care that follows their individualized personal care plan. Assisted living communities should also provide plenty of amenities for comfort, health and personal fulfillment, such as:

Life Plan Communities
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs)
For those looking for a place to call home for many years, even as their needs change, life plan communities are an excellent option. From independent living to nursing care, these communities allow senior residents to age in place and transition between levels of care as needed. CCRC communities require the resident, once qualified, to pay an entrance fee.
We do not specifically include CCRC Communities in our listings, however, there are a few available in the Metro.
