Let's Give Thanks and Eat Pie!
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. Gathering together with family and friends over a labor-of-love turkey dinner with all the trimmings is something I look forward to every year.

And for anyone who may want to make a from-scratch pumpkin pie, here's a recipe from Virginia Cooper of New Orleans, LA published in the 1942 Searchlight Recipe Book (that's 79 years ago my friends).
1 1/2 Cups Cooked Pumpkin, fresh or canned
1 Cup Rich Milk
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 Tablespoon Butter or Butter Substitute
Combine ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Pour into pastry-lined pie pan. Bake in hot oven 425 degrees about 25 minutes, or until an inserted knife comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream. If desired, 1/2 Cup raisins may be added to the pumpkin filling.
770,000 American Deaths to Covid-19
Our heartfelt condolences go out to those who will have an empty seat at the table this Thanksgiving. As we gather with our family and friends, please pause to remember those who were lost to Covid-19. For many, this Thanksgiving will be a time of profound sadness--our thoughts are with you.
