Downsizing a Household Requires Navigating Through a Variety of Steps
to Successfully Complete the Process.

Often times our customers are amazed at the number of decisions and the amount of work involved in successfully downsizing a household. Because the circumstances are different for every downsizing move, we'd like to hear your opinion regarding the steps of the process.

For the most part those completing the questionnaire will be at the beginning of the downsizing transition stage. Others will possibly be somewhere in the middle of the steps, while few will either be nearing completion or already moved. Whichever the case, your input is important to us as we will use the information to grow and strengthen our services offerings.

We appreciate your time and effort. Thank you.

Listed at right are some of the most common steps involved in downsizing a household.

Please review the steps then select the ones that you believe would be the most time consuming or difficult for you to commit to or accomplish. Select all that apply.*
A. We believe that downsizing a household begins with a strong desire to simplify life and an unwavering commitment to work through and complete the many tasks involved in the process whether you have help or are doing it alone. So, topping our list at Step One in the downsizing process is: The desire and commitment to live a simpler downsized lifestyle.
B. Finding a new home environment that fits my budget and meets my lifestyle needs.
C. Sorting and paring down my personal and household belongings. Making decisions about the things that are really important to me. Setting realistic and attainable goals (allowing myself enough time) and staying on track.
D. Packing, moving, and unpacking. Managing all aspects of the move and getting settled in as quickly as possibly.
E. Disposing of the remaining household contents after the move--having a moving or estate sale, auction, donating, etc.
F. Preparing my home for the real estate market. Making necessary updates and changes to enhance the property, both inside and out, so it appeals to more buyers. Being open-minded and doing whatever it takes, within reason of course, to sell my home as quickly as possible.
G. Selling my home in today's market.
H. Enjoying every aspect of my new downsized lifestyle. Looking at this phase and stage of my life as another new beginning.
